Christina Lewellen,
senior editor of Window & Door | Seriously—is it already Thanksgiving? The older I get, the faster the years seem to fly by. Magazine cycles are even worse—I just spent the last two weeks collecting insights from folks in all areas of our industry in preparation for our January 2008 forecast issue.
On a personal level, it's tough to talk about next year before I've even enjoyed my Thanksgiving Day turkey-and-pie coma. But the industry is abuzz with what next year might bring. There are many opinions—most of them similar—about how the industry will fare and when exactly the housing downturn might sneak out some upturn. The interesting difference of opinion comes in the arena of innovation.
Some say the slow market means new finished product and component roll-outs will slow in 2008 and others say innovation will be the key to surviving in lean times.
So look into your crystal ball, readers. What will Window & Door's New Products section look like in 2008? Plug in your vote and send me an email if you care to share your forecast.
From everyone at Window & Door, have a fabulous and safe holiday.
RESULTS AND COMMENTS FROM LAST WEEK'S POLL—"Are things getting better for "independents" in the window and door business?": Popular opinion is "no," though we still see some optimism from our industry. Click here to read Page 2 of "The Talk..."
