Arch Aluminum acquires Trulite Industries, gains Canadian presence
Tamarac, Fla.-based Arch Aluminum & Glass Co. acquired Canadian glass fabricator Trulite Industries Ltd., Mississauga, Ontario, according to a Dec. 17 Arch release. Trulite fabricates large scale insulating, tempered, spandrel and screen printed glass, and distributes flat glass. Trulite will be Arch’s first Canadian location, according to the release. Saint-Gobain exec forecasts improving U.S. building sector in 2009
The U.S. construction market will not improve in 2008, but begin to pick up in 2009, said Pierre-Andre de Chalendar, CEO of France’s Saint-Gobain, according to a Dec. 10 Reuters report.

The weaker dollar, the residential slowdown and the subprime mortgage crisis will decrease the value of U.S. companies, making them more attractive acquisitions, Chalendar said. “There can be acquisition opportunities to seize,” he said, according to the article … read more
