Dorma to build production facility in United Arab Emirates
Officials from Dorma of Germany announced plans to build a production facility at its Middle East headquarters in the United Arab Emirates to respond to growing demand from the booming Middle Eastern construction market, according to an Oct. 23 article from Zawya.com.

U.S. must step up to global warming, says PPG chief executive
When it comes to renewable energy sources, “U.S. is far behind Europe and the rest of the world,” says Charles Bunch, chief executive of Pittsburgh-based PPG in an interview with the Wall Street Journal Oct. 29.

High energy prices will drive a consensus in this country toward environmentally friendly alternatives, he says. The rising prices of natural gas and an environmental conscience have motivated PPG to set targets for energy productivity gains of 5 percent per year. PPG is already exceeding these goals, he says.

“We've had a target, started in 2002, to reduce greenhouse gases by 18 percent by 2012. When we did the calculations for 2006, we had already achieved our target. And so now we're developing our next target for 2012.” ... read more

Czech companies report mixed market conditions
