Report shows recovering Chinese glass industry, despite continuing problems

According to a recent report from Research and Markets, the Chinese glass industry is recovering from a period of depressed prices caused by rapid development and overcapacity. The report, China Stock Listed Glass Company Report, 2006-2007, is available here.

From 2006-2007, the pace of glass output has slowed, prices for flat glass stopped declining, and fuel and raw material prices have fallen, according to the release.

AAMA adds installation information to self adhering flashing specification
The American Architectural Manufacturers Association in Schaumburg, Ill., issued an updated version of AAMA 711-07, a voluntary specification for self adhering flashing, according to a Sept. 19 release.

“The most significant change was the addition of sections … covering the importance of proper installation and establishing that the manufacturer’s instructions should be followed first and foremost,” said John Lewis, AAMA technical director, in the release … read more

China issues entry rules for glass industry
The National Development and Reform Commission of China developed a set of rules for construction of new glass manufacturing lines, according to a Sept. 17 article from the Xinhua Business Weekly.

The rules restrict construction of new sheet glass production lines in eastern and central china, while calling on state-owned manufacturers to build float glass plants in the regions, according to the article.
