Most glass companies report no effect from minimum wage increases
Last month, the legislature approved the first federal minimum wage increase in 10 years. However, many glass company managers already pay their employees far above minimum wage and don’t expect to feel the wage increase.

PPG gets energy assessment from Department of Energy
The U.S. Department of Energy performed an energy assessment on Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries as part of the DOE’s Save Energy Now initiative, according to an Aug. 2 DOE release, published in Reliable Plant.
The DOE recommended PPG use oxy-fuel firing technology to reduce the amount of fuel needed in furnaces by up to 50 percent. Oxy-fuel firing can also reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by as much as 90 percent, according to the release … read more
