AFG to stop production at Cinnaminson float plant

AFG Glass of Kingsport, Tenn., will cease production at its Cinnaminson, N.J., float plant on or before Feb. 5 due to the slipping housing market, company president and chief executive officer Brad Kitterman announced in a Dec. 8 release.

“With the housing market forecast to drop significantly in 2007, we felt we had no alternative other than reducing our capacity for thin, clear, commodity glass,” Kitterman said in the release. “This will allow us to continue full production at our other plants.”

AFG officials are meeting with Cinnaminson plant employees to work out future options, and all customers have been notified of the stop in production, according to the release.
