Promoting and Protecting the Glass and Glazing Industry
From educating architects, to engaging code officials, to influencing legislation, efforts to promote and protect the glass and glazing industry dominated the conversation at the National Glass Association 2020 Annual Conference yesterday in La Jolla, California.
Since Glass Magazine began covering the post-Recession labor shortage in 2014, a similar theme has been clear throughout: the process of recruiting and retaining employees is constant and ever-changing. Every aspect of the process—from recruitment tactics to branding to labor pools to internal procedures—must adapt to new types of hires and new challenges.

2020 Interior Glass Product Showcase

The issue will present an Interior Glass Product Showcase of new offerings that meet ongoing demand for larger sizes, better visibility, decorative appeal and more. Be a part of this special editorial product showcase. Submit your new interior glass products by January 22.

Fireframes® Curtainwall Series
The north side of the Audi Dealership of Birmingham building required fire-rated lot-line protection. The challenge was to blend the desired fire-rated glazing system with the sleek aesthetic of the non-rated system. The design team found their solution with a 2-hour fire-rated exterior Fireframes® Curtainwall Series system from Technical Glass Products. Its slender profiles and clear fire-rated glazing blend well with the adjacent non-rated curtain wall, while its strength allows for 21-foot free spans.

By Robert Kraus
In the context of a modern, globalized and highly digitalized world, the success of glass processing plants to a great extent depends upon how well they embrace the latest IoT-based technologies.
