Industry technical leaders gathered in Toledo, Ohio, the “Glass City,” last week for the Fall Conference for the National Glass Association. Leading the agenda were discussions of product transparency declarations, need-to-know updates to building codes and standards, and solving glass processing challenges.

Fired Up: the Million Dollar Question

How do you get spec’d by an architect? It’s the building industry’s million-dollar question. My takeaway is this: developing a solid foundation of mutual respect with the architect is key to gaining repeated access to the project vision and goals.

The best advice I can give to individuals is to learn an industry and, in turn, that industry will take care of you. Experience in sales, technology and the like are important. Taking the time to choose an industry and learn it will generate exponential value for oneself, the employer and the industry.
