At the NAHB International Builders' Show this past week, one of the bigger plays was showing virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) in action. The technology is incredible, and it will allow the potential customer to see the end product in place and in action.

Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Subway Station Entrance

Part of an extension for Toronto Transit Commission’s York and Toronto subway, the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Subway Station forms the terminus of the Spadina Subway Extension, one of six new stations on the route. The 143,160-square-foot VMC station, built on undeveloped land in the current commercial district outside of the city, is long and narrow. The station is distinguished by an expansive curved entryway, which acts as a counterpoint to the station’s vertical form and welcomes visitors with a flood of natural light. The curtainwall system for the entrance supports large free spans of glazing to allow daylight to fill the pavilion and allow light transfer to the below-ground concourse. The curved perimeter of the entrance complements the transit center’s saddle-shaped roof and is designed to encourage public use. Read more...
