The north side of the Audi Dealership of Birmingham building required fire-rated lot-line protection. The challenge was to blend the desired fire-rated glazing system with the sleek aesthetic of the non-rated system. The design team found their solution with a 2-hour fire-rated exterior Fireframes® Curtainwall Series system from Technical Glass Products. Its slender profiles and clear fire-rated glazing blend well with the adjacent non-rated curtain wall, while its strength allows for 21-foot free spans.

Lumen at Beacon Park, situated along Grand River Avenue, is located in the center of downtown Detroit. The restaurant creates new public space to anchor a changing neighborhood, spur economic development and provide a place for the community. The metal-clad cantilevered roof is a focal point that invokes the city’s automotive history, while the green roof and folding glass walls connect to the park setting. Perimeter glass wall systems, which open and stack together or remain closed, provide a flexible indoor-outdoor floor plan for restaurant seating, a farmer’s market, musical performances and a community meeting room. Read more...
