Top 50 Glaziers: 2018 Annual Report
U.S. contract glaziers boasted another year of impressive growth in 2017, based on the 2018 Top 50 Glaziers Annual Report, Glass Magazine’s annual survey of the nation’s 50 largest glazing firms according to gross sales. Sixty-seven percent of companies reported year-over-year sales gains, the sixth consecutive year of growth in the market, which bottomed out in 2011 during the Great Recession.

Deadline Approaching: GlassBuild America Product Preview
The August issue of Glass Magazine will showcase the products to be displayed during GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window & Door Expo, held Sept. 12-14, in Las Vegas. If your company is a GlassBuild America exhibitor, submit product information online by June 15 to be included in the product preview.

When it comes to targeting customers, it’s been my experience that enthusiasm and eagerness to do business should trump actual fit. Both factors matter, but customers who show initial eagerness, even if they don’t appear to be a perfect fit, are more likely to become buyers and long-term customers, compared to a perfect match with only a slight interest.

From the Fabricator: Growth Areas, by Population

I am a sucker for lists of all types and this one really got me going. The latest report from the U.S. Census Bureau was released and it featured the fastest growing cities by population from 2016 to 2017. The great state of Texas keeps growing. Three of the top five growth areas were from the Lone Star state.

The Balenciaga flagship store in Miami is the 12th store of the luxury fashion company in the United States. Located in the heart of the Miami Design District, Balenciaga’s new store stands out with a photovoltaic glass façade designed to meet Florida’s tough hurricane code requirements. The glass generates energy from sunlight, like solar panels, and the building acts as a power plant, while maintaining its design appeal, aesthetics, efficiency and functionality. Completed in April, the pale blue PV curtain wall spans 2,750 square feet and offers the luxury finish required by the fashion retailer while showcasing its approach to clean energy. Read more...
