A Closer Look at the Changing Glass Industry, at the NGA Annual Conference
The global glass industry is undergoing tremendous changes, and companies must keep up in order to survive and thrive, according to a keynote speaker last week at the Annual Conference for the now-combined National Glass Association and Glass Association of North America.
During the NGA Annual Conference, energy code consultant Tom Culp provided a look ahead at the more stringent thermal performance requirements coming in the 2019 ASHRAE 90.1 standard.

From the Fabricator: Now on the Radar

A couple of very important stories not getting enough coverage are now hitting my radar: the shortage of aluminum and California’s CAL GWP measures. As for the aluminum situation, that one is real, very real. The shortage is already starting to affect the aluminum folks who manufacture storefront and curtain wall, and as it proceeds, it will obviously trickle down to the installer community as well.

The new headquarters for the Uría Menéndez law offices is located in Madrid, Spain. More than 2,000 square meters of architectural glass transformed both the appearance and energy efficiency of the old building. This high-performance glass contributes to the bioclimatic façade that the architects designed, assisting natural ventilation in summer and retaining heat in the winter. The lamination further enhances the glass’s safety and soundproofing properties, necessary in this central, noisy section of Madrid. Read more...
