The north side of the Audi Dealership of Birmingham building required fire-rated lot-line protection. The challenge was to blend the desired fire-rated glazing system with the sleek aesthetic of the non-rated system. The design team found their solution with a 2-hour fire-rated exterior Fireframes® Curtainwall Series system from Technical Glass Products. Its slender profiles and clear fire-rated glazing blend well with the adjacent non-rated curtain wall, while its strength allows for 21-foot free spans.

Yarn Works Apartments in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, is a 182,500-square-foot former mill converted into 96 units of mixed-income housing. Once home to the Fitchburg Yarn Co., the 100 year-old building sits on 7.4 acres on the banks of the Nashua River. More than 350 historically accurate aluminum replacement windows allowed the redevelopment to meet the stringent requirements necessary to qualify for Federal and State Historic Tax Credits from the National Park Service and Massachusetts Historical Commission. Read more...
