Repair vs. Replace

As noted in the October 2017 issue of Glass Magazine, expenditures on capital equipment have been strong the last seven years. Now, many of these newly purchased machines are nearing the time to be repaired or replaced. Repairing vs. replacing is a tricky area to navigate and something we all have encountered.
From the Fabricator: Lots of Light but with Dark Frames

One trend I have been following closely is the interior office space. A lot has been covered with regards to the increase in glass usage, but I’ve been surprised by the framing choices. Dark is in. Black, dark bronze or even custom coated choices that trend darker are picking up more attention versus the traditional mill/satin look.

The Pythian Apartments building in downtown New Orleans is a $44 million renovation completed in June 2017. The historic nine-story building, originally built in 1908 by S. W. Green as an African-American fraternal club, now houses 69 apartments. Unlike other high-rise condo renovation projects, the Pythian Apartments target middle-income workers to provide affordable housing in a desirable downtown neighborhood. Designers prioritized the recreation of multiple historic appearances, as the building underwent two previous major renovations.
