International Code Requirements for Windows & Doors
Although adoption and enforcement of the 2012 editions of the International Codes has been slower than originally anticipated, in recent months it has started to move forward more significantly. There are several significant changes between the 2009 and 2012 editions of the International Codes that relate to fenestration products.
During the Regulatory Affairs Committee Meeting, AAMA’s senior executive coordinator, Maureen Knight, said the architectural community is beginning to request Health Product Declarations from building product suppliers and manufacturers. Some architects are sending letters to manufacturers indicating “if you don’t have [HPDs] by the end of 2014, we won’t use your product,” Knight said.
