2013 was another year of change for the U.S. glass industry, with mergers and acquisitions topping the headlines, and news of bankruptcies and shuttered businesses seeming to slow. To close out 2013, we once again bring you the most-clicked news stories on, in order of reader interest.
The Glass Hustle

This past weekend, I saw “American Hustle” by David O. Russell, and it is richly deserving of the almost universal accolades by movie critics.   What I haven’t seen in any of the film reviews so far is a shared appreciation for the hero’s childhood roots as a sleazy con artist—breaking storefront glass to help boost his father’s struggling glass business.

The entire perimeter of the second-floor mezzanine overlooking the main lobby is detailed with a double-laminated beveled glass and mirror panel surround framed in brass. Read more...
