Critical Connections
Connections to concrete structures are critical to the design of the façade system and heavily influence the programming of the installation schedule. In terms of both safety and the ability to finish the project on time, the reputation and liability of the installer hangs on the connections used to support and restrain the façade.

"This could all be yours one day." In my 23 years in the glass industry, I have known many business owner parents who have said similar words to a would-be heir and have been rejected. Real or imagined, there's a sense that careers in high-tech or finance appeal more than the world of construction or manufacturing.

Pilkington North America introduced Pilkington Graphite Blue, a body-tinted, solar-control glass that offers high daylight transmittance with a light blue-grey tint. This tint is the latest addition to the company's High Performance Tint product line.

Looking to reduce solar heat gain and interior glare at their nine-year-old, 7,500-square-foot office in Allegan, Mich., management of Wolverine Enclosures began researching window replacement options after using window blinds for years. The group considered permanently tinted glass, but instead replaced all 15 windows with new double-pane insulating glass units featuring a thermochromic interlayer. Read more...
