Elite Designs at New York's Home Design Show

It’s not often—if ever—people assume I watch “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” but I plan to, now.  Last Friday, I met Tom Hahn at the Home Design Show in New York City, where he stopped at the Mr. ShowerDoor booth. Owner Tom Whittaker and I learned that Hahn’s daughter, Yolanda Foster, is one of the newest housewives on Bravo’s hit show, and also that she asked her project manager Dad to make her an all-glass refrigerator for which he used shower door panels.

The curtain-wall system of Penn State’s Millennium Science Complex plays a key role in its cutting-edge design. The lines of the brick-clad exterior are offset with rows of continuous window systems along each of the structure’s four stories, allowing natural light to penetrate the interior and creating a visual band around the exterior. Each section of curtain wall on the second and third floors is accented by exterior sunshades, helping control solar heat gain and glare while emphasizing the horizontal lines of the structure.
